Leopold Museum ALFONS WALDE 17.03. – 19.06.2006

The Leopold Museum will present around 100 works by the Tyrolean painter Alfons Walde from 17 March through 19 June 2006. Walde’s work will be illuminated not only as a unique manifestation in Austrian painting, but also in relationship to his Viennese and Tyrolean colleagues. In addition to featuring the “classic Walde”, with his well-known snow and skiing motifs, the exhibition will also include less familiar paintings from his early work. Among the works to be shown are also several paintings of particular interest from Austrian collections that have not been publicly exhibited for decades. The Leopold Museum has been able to engage the Innsbruck Walde specialist Gert Ammann as the exhibition’s curator.
